Almost half a century into her career, she still has the same razor-sharp voice she’s always had, ever since the days when she was breaking history with the band she formed in 1981. She is recognized for her influential work with Sonic Youth, but her practice goes far beyond music. She has worked with painting, in a critical – and almost post-Warhol – expression of the American myth. She wrote one of the most dominant literary autobiographies of the last decade, Girl in a Band (2015). With fashion designer Daisy von Furth, she created the clothing brand X-Girl. She has released albums ranging from the art punk of No Home Record (2019) to the electronica of The Collective (2024), which was recently nominated for two Grammys.

Since the late 1970s, he has produced a series of works with a varied visual matrix, exploring themes related to architecture, the stage, the body, gesture and the deconstruction of the hierarchical sacredness of the object.
