Built on the interpretation and translation of the Our Father in several languages simultaneously, GENESIS is the latest work by artist Mario de Vega. Based on the multicultural impressions caused by the dissonant repetitions of the most practiced prayer in the world, this exhibition creates an aural situation and a psychoacoustic experience that invites us to reflect on the complexities behind the use of linguistic translation as a historical instrument of indoctrination, colonization and cultural imposition.

Born in Mexico City and currently working between his home country, Germany and Portugal, Mario de Vega is an interdisciplinary artist who challenges the limits and perception of hearing. Through vibratory phenomena, architectural interventions, directional performances and electronic interfaces, his artistic work is based on sensory experiences that use sound as a psychophysical material, seeking to provoke physical and emotional reactions that affect the ear and the cognitive processes associated with the act of listening. With a vast international career, his work has been exhibited in North and South America, Asia and throughout Europe. He has been a guest artist and lecturer at renowned institutions such as the City University of Hong Kong, the Berlin University of the Arts, the Center for Design, Film and Television in Mexico City, the Riksakademi in Amsterdam and the National University of Colombia. Since 2020 he has also been a professor at the prestigious Kunsthochschule Kassel, the international arts university in Kassel, Germany.
