ocupa: six pairs of consecutive triangle numbers

Concepts from geometry and algebra are transposed into rhythm and harmony in Six Pairs of Consecutive Triangle Numbers. Starting from mathematical abstractions, Zé Figueiredo constructs, over the course of six pieces for samples and digital synthesizers, a rhythmic fabric where different forms of temporal organisation overlap and unfold. In this complex dynamic, musical time emerges as a rigorous and fluid organism, multifaceted and in constant transformation. Founder of projects such as Peixe:Avião, Smix Smox Smux and Plano Trifásico, Zé Figueiredo is also resident composer at the artistic structure Frenesim. His music can be heard on more than fifteen albums, in film soundtracks, theatre soundscapes, concerts and sound installations.

For ten years, OCUPA has been providing new perspectives on artistic production in the fields of electronic music and digital art made in Portugal. Promoted by the AUAUFEIOMAU cooperative, with the support of the Municipality of Braga and gnration, this initiative is linked to and has contributed to Braga’s positioning as a UNESCO Creative City for Media Arts. This year, in its tenth edition, OCUPA presents a programme of concerts, talks and installations that will take place at gnration and Casa Rolão.
