A whisper fills the room. Three unavoidable names in national music come together under the unsettling sign of Sweet Violence. Vítor Rua, Luís San Payo and Tó Trips, people who need no introduction, put on a show that goes beyond the ordinary. It spreads and unfolds in a journey in search of the inner storm yet to be discovered. In Sweet Violence, the trio moves away from the symmetry and predictability of machines and embraces the instability and imperfection so characteristic of living beings. They turn the stage into a land of metamorphoses; guitars, electronics and percussion crystallise layers of sound that evoke real or imaginary places, places we have already returned to or where we have never been. Accompanied by light and image, they construct a terrain where chaos and delicacy touch with the ferocity of those who dance on the edge of the abyss.
Co-founder of GNR, Vítor Rua seeks out the most disruptive and experimental corners of music. Alongside Jorge Lima Barreto, in the duo Telectu, he created one of the most radical works of European experimental music, in which jazz, noise, electronics and philosophy coexist in the same impulse. Vítor’s partner in Metaphysical Angels, Luís San Payo trained in jazz and free improvisation. He was also part of groups such as Rádio Macau, Irmãos Catita and Pop Dell’Arte. Tó Trips is a national reference on the guitar. He started out in Lulu Blind’s rock band and reinvented himself in Dead Combo, with influences ranging from western soundtracks to African music and fado. United by their boldness, they come together for the first time in a show that, like their careers, will defy all expectations.
