Building bridges between cultural institutions and the university, gnration is once again hosting the end-of-school-year concert by the students of the Contemporary Music curricular unit of the Music degree at the University of Minho. In 2024, this concert left the academic context for the first time to show the community the emerging talents of the young student performers who fill the halls of the Convento dos Congregados during the week.

Under the guidance and tutelage of Professor Pedro Junqueira Maia, the end-of-semester show reveals the progress and learning acquired in the Contemporary Music curricular unit. During this period, the young instrumentalists come into contact with the contemporary music repertoire, allowing them to approach new aesthetic and technical languages in an informed way. This concert focuses on the world of music of thought, invention and research, celebrating creativity through the exploration of new forms of artistic expression.

Through direct contact with current figures in musical composition, both national and international, the students open doors to new and diverse creative possibilities and are encouraged to search for their own creative identity. Far from being a mere demonstration of musical particularities and skills, this show is, above all, a tribute to musical creation that questions scores and works in line with the sonic specificities of contemporary music.
