dance / music
It is through dance and music that Fábio Krayze and DJ Poco tell their stories. Building bridges between Angola and Portugal, they come together at Zona Franca to develop and present Batida. “As emigrants or children of emigrants, we want to honour the place that saw us born and the place that gave us the opportunity to become who we are,” they state in the manifesto for this performance. Fábio Krayze was born in Luanda and moved to Portugal in 2002. A graduate of Escola Superior de Dança, he develops work in urban dance forms, particularly hip hop, house, popping and kuduro. As a performer, he is part of Marco da Silva Ferreira’s pieces CARCAÇA and Fcking Future. In 2023, he created the project Musseque, which was nominated in 2025 by the Portuguese Society of Authors for Best Choreography at the Prémios Autores and selected for Aerowaves Spring Forward 2026. Connected to music from an early age, Poco is a DJ and music producer. He has extensive knowledge of African music, whether through dance, instrumentals or behind the mixing desk. His repertoire includes works with Kelly Veiga, Scró Que Cuia, Nerú Americano, Yudi Fox and DJ Lycox.
Music and dance circulate without limits in Zona Franca. The result of a partnership between gnration and Centro Cultural Vila Flor, this interdisciplinary cycle is a free territory where original music and choreographic practice unfold in a continuous and multiform dialogue. Zona Franca has already hosted encounters between Vera Mantero and Susana Santos Silva, Piny and xullaji, João dos Santos Martins with Joana Sá, and Gabriel Ferrandini with Vânia Doutel Vaz.
