european media art platform (emap) residency programme 2023 — open call

The European Media Art Platform (EMAP) is promoting an open call for an artist residency program in the areas of digital art, media art, and bio-art. The open call, aimed at European artists, offers a production grant and a two-month residency at a cultural institution in Europe.

With the aim of financially supporting new media artists and enhancing networking at the European level, EMAP presents an artist residency programme for artists, collectives, duos, or other artistic formations working in the fields of digital art, media art, and bio-art. The programme, now extended to 15 countries, is aimed at European artists and offers a production grant and a two-month residency at a member institution, including access to the institution’s infrastructure as well as in-house expertise. Those interested must submit an application for a project to be developed at an artist residency between January and December 2024, where the proposer must collaborate with an artist of their choice or a local artist from the host institution.

The residency includes an invitation to the launch conference in Limassol, Cyprus in March 2024, a grant of €4000 for the applicant artist(s) including living expenses, a grant of €2000 for collaborating artist(s), a project budget of €4000, free accommodation, travel expenses up to €1000, and free access to technical facilities and/or laboratories of the host institution. It also includes a professional presentation and the option to participate in exhibition visits at member festivals/exhibitions in 2023-2024, plus the option to be exhibited by EMAP’s partner institutions.

Applicants must be EU residents or taxpayers from an EU member country or the UK. Bachelor’s and Master’s students are not eligible (Ph.D. candidates are accepted), but emerging artists, regardless of age and degree, are encouraged to apply.
