Guitarist and composer, Marc Ribot is one of the most revered names in music. With more than twenty records to his name and with a career spanning almost four decades, Ribot has recorded and collaborated with dozens of historical names in contemporary music. From Tom Waits to Caetano Veloso, from Soloman Burke to John Zorn, from Chuck Berry to Laurie Anderson, among many others, the list with whom the North American has worked is enviable. His work has spread in various styles – from jazz to cuban music, from experimental music to avant-garde – leaving an unmatchable sonic footprint. Between frequent tours with Marc Ribot Trio, a free-jazz group with legendary bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Chad Taylor, Ribot can also take turns composing for cinema or in a curious project of funk arrangements for John Cage’s music, alongside the magician Bernie Worrell (Parliament-Funkadelic).
In Ceramic Dog he shares the stage with two musicians of excellence: Ches Smith, accomplished American drummer known for his collaborations with Mr. Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3, John Zorn, Xiu Xiu or Carla Bozulich, and Shahzad Ismaily, multi-instrumentalist who has collaborated with John Zorn, Secret Chiefs 3, Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Colin Stetson or Bonnie Prince Billy.
After five brilliant albums, Party Intelectualls (2008), Your Turn (2013), YRU Still Here? (2018) – this one presented in concert at gnration; What I Did On My Long Vacation (2020) and Hope (2021), Ceramic Dog is back with a new record. Connection is scheduled to come out in the month they visit July is Jazz and will make an unmissable opportunity to hear him live for the first time.
