From music to moving images, the Winter Club is the right space to discover, explore and improvise. After a week of creation, the results from the exploration and improvisation sessions are presented in a session that opens OCUPA #8.
In this seventh edition, this initiative by Circuito – Serviço Educativo Braga Media Arts is led by multi-instrumentalist musician Noiserv and film director and director of photography Jorge Quintela. A well-known multi-instrumentalist who has been called “the orchestra man” or “one-man band”, Noiserv’s CV includes the successful debut album One Hundred miles from thoughtlessness (2008), the EP A day in the day of the days (2010), the award-winning Almost Visible Orchestra (2013) and 00:00:00:00 (2016).
In 2020 he returned to recordings with Uma Palavra Começada Por N, a work written entirely in Portuguese. He is also part of other musical projects such as You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown, of which he is a founding member, and has collaborated on theatre projects with Marco Martins, Nuno M. Cardoso and Rui Horta, and in film with Miguel Gonçalves Mendes and Paulo Branco. Director and cinematographer, Jorge Quintela has collaborated with other names in cinema such as Edgar Pêra, Rodrigo Areias, Rita Azevedo Gomes, Gabriel Abrantes, Salomé Lamas and Diogo Costa Amarante. In 2010, he premiered his first short fiction film, Ausstieg, which was awarded an Honourable Mention in the Experimental Competition at Curtas Vila do Conde. O amor é a solução para a falta de argumento, Sobre El Cielo and Carosello are other films that have won him awards and festival nominations. Alongside his film work, he has presented 16mm video installations and audiovisual performances.
