The Braga International Video Dance Festival (BIVDF) is back for its 8th edition, which this year will take place at gnration. Since 2016, the BIVDF has promoted the dissemination, learning and development of short choreographic artistic works, focusing on the body and technology, using Video Dance as a central means of expression. Establishing itself as a platform for innovative interdisciplinary works that deconstruct the boundaries of traditional performance, the 2024 edition will feature two categories – Video Dance and Short Video Dance – and three awards – Best Video Dance, Best Short Video Dance and Audience Choice. The choice will be made by the invited jury and, in the case of the Audience Choice, by the public present at the event.

Braga International Video Dance Festival is promoted by Arte Total, a creative, production and mediation organisation dedicated to contemporary artistic practices. Created in 1992, its activity focuses on contemporary artistic production that favours work of an experimental nature, combining performance with the visual arts, dance with music or digital technologies with the creation of work processes and dance research.

OPEN CALL

From 1 November 2023 until 29 February, there will also be an open call for projects to be presented at the eighth edition of the festival. The challenge is to reflect on the concepts of “performance” and “performativity” through projects that blur the boundaries between art, disciplines and technology. Focusing on everyday and contemporary practices, the BIVDF is looking for projects that stand out for their conceptual, artistic and technical proposal, as well as their originality. Audiovisual pieces are accepted, with original or re-enacted choreography, filmed, with a maximum duration of up to 15 minutes.
