trabalho da casa: amijas
Within the Galéxia collective, which lives in the catacombs of the Galécia shopping centre in Braga, aMijas was born. Contemporaries and housemates of projects such as The Nancy Spungen X, Navegantes da Rua, Vai-te Foder and Capela Mortuária, aMijas are guided by the maxim of noise to shake up the city’s music scene.
Energetic and uncompromising, their influences include the most diverse genres – from rock to pimba and from pop to punk. Defying all these classifications, the sound of aMijas lives free and liberated in indefiniteness. Guitars, bass, drums, wind instruments and electronic textures are joined by two voices singing. Mixing humour and tragedy, their lyrics ruminate on everyday life and play with serious issues. But, as they say: ‘no clowning around, nobody’s a fool here’.
After an artistic residency at gnration, under the programme to support local artistic creation Trabalho da Casa, aMijas present the songs they have been creating over the last two years. This concert will be a unique opportunity to see and hear first-hand the Braga women’s debut album, which is due to be released at the end of 2024.
Since the beginning of 2015, Trabalho da Casa has been a stage for local artists and a driving force in Braga’s musical production. With more than two dozen projects supported, gnration’s artistic creation programme challenges musicians and bands to build new recordings and shows, starting with incubation in an artistic residency context with a final public presentation.
