Cole Pulice’s music floats between jazz tradition, electronic experimentalism, and ambient music. Combining the saxophone and MIDI synthesizers that respond to his breath, while controlling a detailed network of effects pedals with their feet, Pulice is able to create almost supernatural compositions that oscillate between the acoustic and the digital. Often the saxophone sounds as expected; at other times, the sound is so extended and processed that new timbral combinations are born.

Born in Minneapolis and currently living in Oakland, Pulice has collaborated with names such as Bon Iver, GospeedYou! Black Emperor, and Toro y Moi. They are also a member of the Black Market Brass nonet and the LCM group before launching their own career with Gloam (2020). Collaborations with Lynn Avery and Nat Harvie were followed by Scry (2022), which consolidated their position as an essential figure in contemporary avant-jazz. Their recognition was more than confirmed with If I Don’t See You in the Future, I’ll See You In the Pasture (2023), a 22-minute electroacoustic odyssey highlighted by Pitchfork with the Best New Music label and included in the best songs of the 2020s.

In May 2025, Pulice released Land’s End Eternal, on the Leaving Records label. This album further expands their sound universe by incorporating electric guitar and exuberant choral arrangements, resulting in a collection of pastoral chamber jazz divided into six chapters. Live, Cole Pulice performs as a duo, allowing the guitar to lead and punctuate their explorations in a hypnotic conversation between wind instruments and electronics.
