A multidisciplinary designer from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Miriam Hillawi Abraham develops a practice that crosses research and experimental preservation. Trained in architecture, her work focuses on the continuity of Africa’s material heritage and immaterial knowledge, articulating narratives, territories and memories that are often dispersed. Taking on the role of a weaver, she builds connections between different cultural and historical contexts, revealing invisible relationships between people, objects and places. Her work has been included in the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Sharjah Architecture Triennial and the Shanghai Biennale.
