ece canlı x rojin sharafi
The worlds of Rojin Sharafi and Ece Canlı collide in a unique concert. Part of Lovers & Lollypops’ Ciclo de Música Discreta (Discreet Music Cycle), this encounter stems from an invitation by the Porto-based promoter, in partnership with gnration. The challenge set for the two artists is to create soundscapes shaped by their individual influences and characteristics and by the spaces where they develop their sound journeys.
A prominent name on the Iranian music scene, Rojin Sharafi is a sound artist and composer at the forefront of electroacoustic and experimental electronic music. Currently based in Vienna, she combines analog, acoustic, and digital instruments to create a visceral terrain where rhythm, melody, and timbre blend together in one impulse. She launched her career with Urns Waiting to be Fed (2019) and has since released three other works under her own name and one with the futuristic folk band HUUUM, all highly praised by publications such as The Quietus, The Wire, and Boomkat.
Born in Turkey and based in Portugal, Ece Canlı is an artist, musician, and researcher. Her practice challenges the limits of music made with the voice, through extralinguistic expressions, mythological narratives, and extended vocal techniques. As a solo artist, she has released the albums Vox Flora, Vox Fauna (2020), and SACROSUN (2024). She has also collaborated with various artists, musicians, and choreographers, notably the duo Nooito, with harpist Angélica Salvi, the Porto band LiveLow, and the vocal trio CobraCoral, with Catarina Miranda and Clélia Colonna.
