gnration open day: becoming a simulated book, by mariana gomes
An unstable surface that retains, distorts and fades. *Becoming a simulated book* settles like a silent substance waiting to be activated. The gesture is the trigger for activation: approach, interfere, and the imagery responds. Created by Mariana Gomes, a Master’s student in Media Arts at the University of Minho, this is a memory device that oscillates between the presence and disappearance of matter. Drawn to destruction and decomposition, Mariana Gomes is a multidisciplinary artist who has been working in the field of Media Arts.
