semibreve: relational cartography
bruno mesquita
Relational Cartography is a generative system that traces the shifting relations between words, people and territories. The work invites each visitor to define in a single word what a border is.
Every answer becomes a node in a drifting field, where meanings move closer and apart without settling into a definition.
The piece adopts the visual grammar of data and surveillance systems but refuses their function, it accumulates language without turning it into actionable knowledge.
Edigma Semibreve Scholar is a program of the Semibreve Festival, organized in partnership with the Portuguese company EDIGMA, dedicated to supporting and promoting artistic, audio, and multimedia creations developed by higher education students in Portugal.
