divine time #2 — shirin fahimi
Divine Time is a series of video conversations on sacred technology and alternative temporalities that explores how the languages of cinema and video games intersect with the spiritual, mystical, and enlightened, tracing connections between techno-bodily realism and the metaphysics of the digital experience. This series is curated by Zaiba Jabbar, a curator, researcher, award-winning filmmaker, and founder of HERVISIONS, a curatorial agency, platform, and digital art studio focused on women, which produces commissions, exhibitions, and innovative events with a strong emphasis on the intersection of art, technology, and culture.
Based in Toronto, Shirin Fahimi is a first-generation Iranian-Canadian artist. Through the creation of digital worlds, she explores the role of the occult sciences and mysticism in female empowerment in the political, spiritual, and digital realms. Her work is deeply influenced by mystical literature and the magical practices of Islamic culture, and how these are reflected in Iranian society and its diaspora. She has exhibited and performed internationally at venues such as SAVVY Contemporary (Berlin), the TIFF Bell Lightbox (Toronto), and the CAFKA Biennial (Kitchener).
