estradas

From the fusion of producer Nídia’s energy and percussionist Valentina Magaletti’s inventive universe, Estradas (2024) was born—a universal celebration of rhythm released by Paris-based label Latency. The artists’ encounters on the road are a surprising sharing of urgency, inevitably drawing from their very different creative contexts: on one side, Nídia, hailing from the vibrant world of Príncipe; on the other, Magaletti from the realm of exploratory music, where she collaborates with Holy Tongue, Moin, and CZN. Estradas (2024), the album they bring to the third edition of INDEX, is made up of hypnotic syncopations, incandescent marimba lines, rhythmic twists, and a healthy inventiveness in the harmonic arrangements, in tracks for the body and for memory.

supa
(dj set)

For over a decade, Supa has been enriching the Portuguese music scene. She is not part of Porto’s first generation of female DJs, but she is one of the founders of Grrrl Riot, the city’s first collective of its kind to make a name for itself in the DJ booths of clubs across the country. She is also a founding member of Thug Unicorn, a pioneering event in Portugal focused on social and political issues, which has toured the country from festivals to underground clubs, leaving an indelible mark on the concept of national clubbing. With rare versatility, Supa has shared the booth with established DJs such as Helena Hauff, John Talabot, Simo Cell, ISAbella, and Sherelle, as well as with sound artists and performers of exploratory music like Steven Warwick, Invernomuto, and Ice Boy Violet, proving that the boundary between the classic and the avant-garde is a limbo where she feels right at home.
